Dry Skin Treatment Remedies

dry skin treatment remedies

Condition: Dry Skin

Skin protects itself by producing natural oils from oil glands. Soaps remove these oils, which makes the skin drier. Heat also causes the skin to lose moisture. Dry skin may be a symptom of illness or a side effect of medicine. It becomes a more common problem as we age because of changes in the skin, such as loss of sweat glands and oil glands. Certain antiperspirants, perfumes, and soaps may result in dry skin, other factors like hot baths and certain fabrics (such as wool) may also contribute.

What should I do about dry skin?

For mild symptoms:

  • Use moisturizers and lotions (EC Mode Hand Guardian) regularly. Always use lotions after washing your hands or bathing (EC Mode Body Cover Moisturizer)
  • Avoid wearing rough fabrics, such as wool
  • Shower or bathe when get out of a pool or spa that has chlorine/bromine in it. Use EC Mode Scalp Therapy Shampoo on your skin and EC Mode Just for Swimmers Shampoo & Conditioner for your hair & scalp
  • .
  • When you bathe:
    • use a moisturizing soap
    • add bath oil to your bath water
    • Pat your skin dry with a soft towel
Do not rub your skin dry
    • Apply moisturizer to moist skin after patting dry
    • Do not use hot water
      Use only warm water
    • do not regularly soak in a hot tub,

Use a humidifier. Raise the humidity level in your home, especially in the winter.

  • Protect your hands with gloves when you wash dishes, garden, do chores or use chemicals. For your feet try FootLogix Very Dry Skin, FootLogix Cracked Heel, or FootLogix  Foot Soak.

There are a variety of factors that may cause dry skin, however, dry skin is most often caused by two factors; slowing of exfoliation of skin cells and oxidation. The following oxidizing elements cause dry skin:

  • Chlorinated water
  • Sun exposure
  • Air and wind
  • Detergents and cleaning solvents
  • Exposure to chemicals
(example chemicals used to perm & color hair)
  • Heaters and air conditioners
  • Ageing:
As the body ages, the sebaceous glands do not produce as much sebum, the oil that lubricates the skin. Skin cells which normally exfoliate and reach the surface of the skin every day and a half slow down, resulting in abnormal exfoliation causing dry skin.

The Wellness Solution

The EC Mode wellness approach can help heal and prevent dry skin by shielding skin against harsh oxidizing elements and normalizing the exfoliation rate of skin. Research now confirms that nature's own vitamin C and vitamin E can:

  • Scavenge free radicals that cause oxidation
  • Provide a barrier of protection against further oxidation
  • Penetrate into the deeper layer of the skin to replenish moisture and improve skin's smoothness
  • Normalize the exfoliation rate of the skin
  • Increase collagen synthesis
